Intro to Machine Sewing for kids with Michelle Thomas
This class is for the youngster who is just starting out with a sewing machine. We will review some basic sewing terminology, wind a bobbin, thread the machine and construct a simple wallet. You will come away with an understanding of your machine, how to use seam allowance guides, how to use fusible interfacing and various other tips so you can feel confident to try projects on your own. Students must be 8 yrs or older.

*New Baby Utility Quilt with Barb
This easy-make, easy-care quilt is a quick project for the beginning quilter. It makes a perfect lap quilt or a great little gift for your favorite small person. In this class you will learn the basics of cutting with a rotary cutter, preparing and basting a quilt sandwich and attaching a binding. We will also discuss different quilting methods. The class is divided into 2 sessions with several weeks between classes to provide time to quilt your project before adding the binding to finish it up.

Join us as we complete the “Books for Baby” quilt from Ayumi Mills’ book Patchwork Please. This adorable quilt is perfect for using up some of your favorite scraps too! In this class, we will cover an introduction to piecing techniques focusing on machine paper-piecing, but also including a demo/discussion on English paper-piecing and foundation piecing. This class is for anyone with basic sewing machine skills. By the time we’re done, you will have learned all the skills to have a beautiful heirloom quilt for years to come! 3 Classes. Intro to Free-Motion Quilting with Angela Welch
In this fun and relaxed introduction to free-motion quilting, we will de-mystify stippling, a great design to finish any project. Learn about supplies, including batting, threads, and needles. Try using some specialty products that make free-motion quilting easier. Gain confidence in adjusting the tension on your machine and solve common beginner’s problems. We will have lots of hands-on practice time. This is a technique class, so you will make practice stitch samples, rather than a completed project. Free-motion quilting definitely improves with practice. Let us help you get off on the right foot and make machine quilting fun.
