Beginner Classes:

Intro to Machine Sewing with Michelle Thomas
This class is for a true beginner who wants to learn the basic operation of their machine. We will review some basic sewing terminology, wind a bobbin, thread the machine and construct a simple wallet. You will come away with an understanding of your machine operation, how to use seam allowance guides, how to use fusible interfacing and various other tips so you can feel confident to try projects on your own. Owl Softie Class
A class for those who love the Sew to Speak owl! Using felt and basic hand sewing we will make our own one of a kind owl. This class is perfect for the very beginner! Sunday, July 25, 2-4pm. Cost $30

Beginner’s Tote Bag with Michelle Thomas
Spend two enjoyable evenings with Michelle learning many sewing basics and take home a fabulous tote that you create. This is a great class if you have very little or no sewing experience but are able to operate your sewing machine's basic functions. Wednesday, July 14 and 21, 6-8pm. Or Wednesday, August 25 and September 1, 6-8pm. Cost $60.

Beginner’s Apron with Heather Riegle
This class is for those who have an understanding of their sewing machine and want to learn basic sewing techniques. In this class you will learn how cut your pattern pieces, add patch pockets, hemming, and gathering.
Tuesday, June 8, from 6:30-9:00PM. Cost $30

Basic Hand Stitching and Finishing with April Rhodes
This class will help you get more comfortable with putting those oh so important and beautiful finishing touches on your sewn items. Learn many hand stitches including blind hem, blanked, whip stitch and more. Saturday, August 7, 12-2 PM. Cost is $24.

Appliqué Pillow Class with Heather Riegle
This beginner's sewing class will help you get sewing for your home. You will learn to use fusible interfacing, apply an appliqué, and make button holes while making a pillow cover. You pick the letter to appliqué and the fabric and take home a darling home accent. Please be proficient with your machine before taking this class.
Thursday, May 27, 6:30-9PM. Cost $28.

Pillow Case Dress with Michelle Thomas
This style dress was made originally from old pillowcases but we use fun cotton fabric to make this cute and simple dress or top. In this class you will learn French seams and bias tape application. The pattern is provided to make sizes 12 months up to girls size 8. Please be proficient with your sewing machine prior to this class.
Sunday July 10th, 12-2:30pm. Cost $30.

Elastic Waist Skirt Class with Pat Wax
In this class you will design and sew a straight skirt with an elastic waistband. Since you will be sewing the skirt in class, you should know how to thread and sew with your machine.
Tuesday, July 6, 6-8:30pm. Cost $25.

 

Advanced Beginner Classes:

Anna Tunic with Heather Reigle
You love the Amy Butler’s Barcelona skirt, now make an Amy Butler top with Heather. This class is perfect for learning to use a pattern. You can make it tunic length or longer. It has a yoke, lining and buttons with loops. Come in to see the beautiful class sample.
Thursday, June 22 and 29 or July 1 and 8, or August 19 and 26, 6:30-9PM. Cost $60.

Skirtshop with April Rhodes
In this Sunday workshop you will learn to make an A-line skirt. April will guide you through taking your measurements, making your personal skirt pattern, cutting out your skirt, sewing it up, adding darts if needed and inserting a zipper.
Sunday, August 15, 4-4:30pm . Cost $52.


Baby Room Essentials with Pat Wax
In this class, you will have the opportunity to decorate your baby’s room by sewing a rod-pocket valance, crib skirt, and coordinating crib sheet.
Tuesday, July 27 and August 3, 6-8pm. Cost $60

Laminated Tote Bag with April Rhodes
This class will help get you comfortable with using laminated fabrics. You will make an oversized tote, great for groceries, beach/pool trips, or just day to day toting around! The tote bag pattern was designed by April and will be given to you in class. This is a good class for any beginning sewer with little knowledge of their machine or more advanced sewers who may be wary to try laminated fabric.

Advanced Beginner Classes (Continuded):

Barcelona Skirt with Pat Wax
Also a Sew To Speak favorite. This one has a back invisible zipper and a lining. Make it layered or as a trimmed A-line skirt. Very flattering. Perfect class to take after your beginner's sewing. Tuesday, August 24 and 31, 6-8PM. Cost $60.

Pinwheels and Clouds Quilt with Mary DuganMake a sweet baby quilt and learn techniques which can be applied to make any size quilt. An excellent class for the advanced beginner to learn to assemble a quilt from piecing to binding. We will explore useful tips and work toward completing a lovely 39" X 39" quilt for that special little person.
This class meets 4 times: August 9, 13, 16, & 20 from 6-8pm. Cost$70.

Coin Quilt with Mary Dugan
This class will teach the beginning quilter the proper method of cutting fabric using a rotary cutter, acrylic ruler and mat. We will continue to explore quilting techniques for piecing and binding a quilt. Plus you will have the option to add "pick" stitches to your quilt using perle cotton.
This class meets 4 times, Friday July 16, 23, 30 & August 6, 6-8PM. Cost $70.

Home Décor Class with Pat Wax
In this class you will learn how to cut out and sew a pillow and a rod-pocket valance and cover a lampshade for your bedroom. Since you will be sewing these items, you should know how to thread and sew with your machine. Tuesday, August 10 and 17, 6-8pm. Cost $60.

Intermediate:

Dresden Plate Quilt Class with
Mary Dugan

Learn to make the Dresden Plate Block with a fresh and modern twist. This cheery quilt will be a much loved treasurefor your family or a friend. You will learn piecing, appliqué, and an easy, fun hand quilting technique. This is a good class for the advanced beginner to intermediate student. This class will meet 4 times. Monday, July 5, 12, 19 & August 2 from 6-8 PM. Cost $75.

Personal Fit Class with Sheila Brex
In this class I will teach you how to personally fit a garment pattern to your body. Garment patterns will be your choice but limited to tops, dresses or skirts. You will learn how to properly take body measurements, apply them to any pattern and make adjustments. You will do a mock garment and learn to make any additional alterations from there.
Friday, August 27 and September 3 from 6-9pm. Cost $70.


Field Tote with Heather Reigle
Spend some time with Heather boosting your sewing skills. This new Amy Butler bag pattern is super cute. Can be made without a zipper. Making this large bag will give you the opportunity to learn to make and use piping, different types of interfacing, interior details, as well as construction of a sturdy bag. Great intermediate class.

Shirt Dress/ Circa 1950 with April Rhodes

In this class you will learn to alter the Amy Butler liverpool Pattern to give it a fun retro feel. April will help you decide exactly were you want your dress bodice to end and your full skirt to begin. She will gently walk you through the process of fitting this garment to your specific style and body shape and you will be amazed at how this lovely shirtdress comes together.
Tuesday, July 13 & 20, or Monday August 23 and 30, 6–9 pm. Cost $70.

The Liverpool with Sheila Brex
This cute and versatile Amy Butler pattern features a fitted bodice with details and can be made as a shirt, tunic, or dress. It will become a wardrobe staple that can be worn for all seasons. Along with basic sewing techniques, you will learn how to make a collar and stand, cuffs, and shirt placket. For the intermediate sewer.
Saturday August 14 and 21 from 9am.-12pm. Cost $70.

Collette Parfait Dress with Heather Reigle
This class offers the experience of garment construction through use of a pattern. During this class you will learn to gather, create button-holes and insert an invisible zipper. Can be worn as "a sundress or layered as a pinafore style in cooler weather". Thursday, August 5 and 12, 6:30-9pm. Cost $60.
